One to one coaching - Independent dance artist
Over the years as a creative practitioner, I have always been told “I work too much” and encouraged to, “find a work/life balance”. I have a busy job and although there are parts I prefer not to have to do, I actually love being busy – it is part of who I am, I thrive on challenge and deadlines. One of my downfalls has been putting other peoples’ needs before my own and before you know it, you are sorting everyone else’s lives when your own involves juggling 8 different roles.
I had not experienced coaching before and was lucky to have support from the Dancers Career Development team to work with Jo for 3 sessions. First of all, Jo listened and understood how I function, knowing that telling me to stop, slow down or simply just say no, would not work.
Asking questions, Jo helped me create a more manageable vision of an ideal working schedule and helped me understand how to value my time. She allowed me to consider important questions and find my own answers, guiding me through a variety of strategies to change the elements in my life and work that were unproductive.
Jo is a very kind, considerate and funny lady. I loved going to my sessions as not only would I learn and make small but, in hindsight, very important decisions but it was fun! My time there was well spent indeed and has helped me create a better sense of self value, of self and work management. Because of this I am actually more creative, more productive yet feel I have more time and am as a result more relaxed in various aspects of my life.
I would highly recommend Jo to anyone hoping to change something in life, what ever it is. There is no pressure, she helps you want to make the changes as you figure out what was perhaps stopping you in the first place. Jo brings great guidance, successful strategies to grow in your own time and in your own ways (you make the decisions all the way). She is full of empathy yet has a fabulous sense of humour and lots of positive encouragement.
